English Premiership campaigners Arsenal have signed former Dijon goalkeeper Runar Alex Runarsson.

He comes into the club at a crucial time as they(Arsenal) have lost their longest serving player, Argentine goalie Emiliano Martinez to fellow premiership side Aston Villa.

The Icelander will from the start, play second fiddle to German International, Bernd Leno who is the undisputed number one at the Emirates.

Runarsson, who joined the gunners on 21st September,2020 will wear the number thirteen(13) jersey at the club.

Runar Alex Runarsson was player of the season for Nordsjaelland in the 2017-2018 Danish Superliga, a feat which facilitated his move to French side Dijon on a four year deal in 2018.

The shotstopper has featured five times for the senior national team after donning the Icelandic national colours at Under- 17, Under- 19 and Under- 21.

One may not be far from right to say football is a family thing for Runarsson, as his father Runar Kristinsson, a former midfielder, is the only Icelander to have represented his country more than hundred (100) times at senior level.
