The Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association (GRNMA) has suspended its nationwide strike.
The GRNMA redrew their services in protest for improved service conditions.
Addressing the media, the President of the GRNMA, Mrs. Perpetual Ofori-Ampofo asked all nurses and midwives to return to work today Thursday 24th September 2020.
According to the association, the decision complies with the injunction sort against them by the national labor commission
“Yesterday Tuesday 22nd September 2020, around 4:30 pm we received notice from the head office administrator that the court had formally come to the office to serve the intermittency injunction on the GRNMA and its allied association. In the face of the injunction, our respect for the courts coupled with our image passion to serve our patients and that matter, the good people of Ghana, we have decided to temporarily suspend the strike action on Thursday 24th September 2020 at 8 am” she said.
She added that they will not tolerate any forms of intimidation or victimization by their employers, their agents, or representations, that if any of such attacks come to their notice they will take the necessary action
“At this juncture, we take the opportunity to inform our employers, the ministry of health and its agencies, especially the directors of charged institutions and managers of some Ghana Health Institutions to halt all forms of intimidation or victimization from either our employers, their agents, or representations. And that if it comes to our notice, we shall deliver the appropriate response she said
