Member of Parliament for Offoase-Ayirebi Constituency, Hon Kojo Oppong Nkrumah has said in an interview on Joynews on 15th January 2020 that the president, H.E Nana Akufo Addo is planning to constitute a smaller number of ministers in government as compared to his first term in office.
The Minister for Information in the erstwhile Akufo Addo’s government who is still the president’s representative in the ministry, believes though there’s going to be a possibility of reduction of the number of government ministers, efficiency and effectiveness would be maintained.
He also said, he’s unable to confirm or deny rumors of an 80 member government ministerial team in the second tenure of the president nor he being appointed to the Foreign Affairs Ministry.
In the same interaction he noted that the NPP forms majority in the 8th Parliament and awaiting the speaker, Rt Hon. Alban Sumana Bagbin to rule officially on that, as they meet today however that notwithstanding, some MP’s on the NPP side were in parliament around 4am on Friday 15th January sit on the right side of the speaker of parliament where conventionally, the majority in parliament sits.
Records have it that parliamentarians from the NDC side were also in parliament to sit at the same location claiming majority or hitherto hang parliament prior to the election of the 8th parliamentary speaker.
